Volume 4 - Forward Motion

Today's game is incredibly fast, faster than it has ever been; back door plays and free wheeling players have forced the goaltender to re-evaluate his positioning in the net. While we have continually harnessed and developed the speed of the goaltender, we can intensify it by having him play a little deeper and using forward motion.

Forward motion can be applied form any position, it is almost like forming an illusion for the player, letting him think he has more room to shoot than he actually does, but in reality, the opening is quickly taken away by forward movement.

When forward motion is applied properly it is like the player sees an opening to shoot at, but once he releases the puck it is like you were standing out much higher than he first thought. with much less room than he first saw. All this will give you more time to react to the shot.
