Camps around the Corner

Schools out, and children are frolicking in the streets.  What are they going to do with all their spare time?  Many will sit inside and have one lazy summer.  Before they know it, hockey season will have arrived and the ability to stop the puck may have taken a dramatical decline over the summer.  To prevent this hurry and sign up for one of the remaining spots for a Gold in the Net Manitoba/Saskatchewan camp.  Our top notch instructors are begining to arrive for another wonderful summer.  It would be great to see everyone there.

Most Improved Horn?

With the season officially over and the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns out of the contention for the CIS National Championship, the team handed out it's yearly awards.  Upon the completion of the night Gold in the Net Manitoba's own Daniel Wenham left with the teams most improved player award.  This award goes to the player who showed the greatest increase in performance since the beginning of the season.  "To receive this award was a honor and it took many hours on and off the ice of dedication, patience, commitment, and respect...  I encourage all young goaltenders to challenge themselves with these qualities and maybe they will become their teams most improved player!"

With the season coming to a close, playoffs starting up, and chances to impress scouts the opportunity turned out all to well for four Gold in the Net Manitoba students.  This past weekend goaltenders Matt Gray and Thomas Doran traveled to their respective zone's to try out zone Program of Excellence teams.  The two received phone calls Sunday congratulating them on making the teams.  Following this great news bantam goaltenders Kennedy Johnston and Lane Routledge also made their respective teams, however this time Lane will be playing for the Director's Cup and Kennedy will be taking on the best bantam female competition at the Bantam Challenge.  Gold in the Net is proud of these individuals and wish them good luck in their upcoming tournaments.

Gold in the Net Manitoba Student Loses to Alaska State Midget Team in Championship Game

Despite her best efforts in net Kennedy Johnston was unable to capture the gold at her tournament in Grand Forks ND.  Despite this fact her Lady Foxes Bantam hockey team went into the championship game again the Alaska State Midget team, a bit of an unfair advantage.  Kennedy proved what hockey is like in Canada as her team lost just 2-0 against a much better, and matured team.  Congratulations to Kennedy on a job well done!

Carberry Christmas Clinic

Fighting through the morning hours, our first ever clinic went off with great success.  Goaltenders came out showing off not only their skills but also their flashy new Christmas gear.  We would like to thank the town of Carberry for the wonderful opportunity to train their goaltenders.  Looking forward to returning once again next year for a bigger and better camp.
